How to Tare your ACL??

My knee has been hurting for a year or 2 know and it hurts when i do alot at school and my coach tells me to tell my mom to take me to the doc to see what is wrong and when i tell my mom she says she isnt going to take me until i tare my acl or blow out my knee!! IM not going to do it i just want to see what r some ways to tare it!! Thanks Alot

Well I'm glad you said you aren't going to do it because it is not a pleasant experience. To tear an ACL to really need to put a lot of pressure on it: twist your knee funny during a sports game, land funny while running, trip or fall in the right way... you can do it in a lot of different ways, but none of them are going to be pleasant, and you'll be miserable during healing.

Tell your mother you need to see a doctor now! I started having knee problems in the 6th grade and NO doctor would believe me because they insisted I was too young. A couple of years ago as a junior in high school I really started experiencing problems while at soccer, field hockey, and cheerleading. My parents and I finally found a doctor who took me seriously and he had me try physical therapy. By this time, my knee was too messed up and therapy didn't work so I ended up needing surgery. During the surgery the doctor found that I had a torn meniscus and told me that had my knee problems been taken seriously from the beginning I probably would not have needed knee surgery. Now, just about 3 years after that surgery, I presently have another issue with that knee. I am stuck on crutches for a month, wrapped in an ace bandage with ice, and MUST rest A LOT. The emergency room has me scheduled to follow up with my orthopedic surgeon as they fear that I have torn cartilage or something. Also, an MRI shows that I have a thinning ligament, and the ER doctor fears that it may be close to tearing.

I hope this story helps you to realize how important it is to get a knee problem taken care of as soon as you begin to experience it. Show your mom what I just wrote if you have to, just please tell her, and convince her to get you to a doctor. I am only 19 and I am facing my second knee surgery, and stuck on crutches for at least the next month until I see my surgeon and he decides what to do. Trust me, you don't want to end up like this!

Good Luck! :-)

IF you tear your ACL you're looking at a couple months of healing. Football players who tear it are usually either out for the season or out forever.

it is spelled "tear"

if your acl was torn it would hurt like hell.

most probably you have muscles atttached to it that are in 'spasm" and pull on it. good "trigger point" theraputic massage will relieve it, along with proper stretching before and after sports.

Is your Mom pyscho? If your coach says you need to be seen by the doctor then you need to be seen. I don't think you really want to tear your acl. The pain is so intense and you will wind up having sugery. I think this is the most foolish thing I have ever heard and your Mother is commiting child abuse by not taking care of your health needs.

You TEAR your ACL by planting your foot and twisting your knee. It hurts like heck and is a bad knee injury, requiring surgery. There are other ligaments and muscles in and around the knee as well as cartilage that can be torn or injured. You should get the knee checked out if it has been huirting for a year or two. If you cant afford the doctor, find a free clinic. Good Luck!

yea, seriously is your mom nuts? Why would she want you to tear your ACL or something like that before she would take you to a dr? Why dont see try to play sports and have someone wack into her knee from the outside or whatever, and see if she likes it? I do not want to see anyone hurt, but seriously tell your mom to call ur coach and have her take it up with ur coach. and do not try to tear your acl on purpose either.
